Projecto displays the Schedule Templates screen.

PJT Schedule Templates

Note that the Schedule Template module displays a list of Phases grouped into Schedule Templates. In this way project stakeholders can capitalize on building repeatable processes for managing project schedules.

The Schedule Templates list view displays columns for Template Name, Phase Number, Name, Parent, Tier, Follows, PDC Phase Type, and there are two fields for Duration: Duration Number and Duration Units. The number of Phases in a Schedule Template is user-definable. Phases are grouped together by Template Name by default.

Click any column heading in list view. Projecto sorts the list by that column heading. When sorting by Template Name, Projecto includes a subheading above each schedule phase.

PJT Schedule Templates Other Option

Choose the OTHER… option. Projecto displays the Other… data entry window. Any text may be entered. There are no restrictions. The Other… data entry window is a text field. Best practice is to enter a single word in this use-case scenario. It is neither necessary nor advisable to place a carriage return after the new Schedule Phase Template Name entered into the Other… data entry window. An extra carriage return after the Schedule Phase Template Name may create unexpected results in how Projecto finds and displays the record.

The Parent Child Relationship

Placing a value in the Parent field means the Phase is now a Child of that Phase Number. In the example below, Phase #2, Approval, is a Child of Phase #1, Inception.

PJT Schedule Templates Phase 2 Child Phase 1 Parent

The value in the PARENT field of a Child Phase designates that Phase as the Child of the Phase Number entered in the PARENT field.

  1. The Parent Phase usually appears somewhere above the Child Phase in the Schedule Template.
  2. It is unlikely that the first Phase entered in a new Schedule Template will require a value for the PARENT field.
  3. The Parent Phase should not have a value in the PARENT PHASE field. Parent Phases cannot be a Child of any other Phase.
